The Red Eared Slider - Singapore's favourite turtle. Sold in pet shops island wide, this popular pet is also one of the most destructive. Growing rapidly in captivity, the turtle quickly outgrows its terrarium. Inconsiderate owners abandon them everywhere, and this has lead to their prevalence in many bodies of water, from church grottos to Koi ponds. There, they thrive, fouling up water and decimating local fish and aquatic plant populations.

I forgot to add that men are indeed selfish, worrying only about themselves and not noticing the damage they caused by their action until it is too late.
